Nichole’s Birthday Fiesta

Ole!
This past Tuesday March 13th, my better half turned …a year older :) To celebrate, we got a bunch of friends together the previous Friday night for Mexican food and margaritas at Laredo’s here in Kennesaw. Much worrying was done by yours truly at our difficulty in getting tables in time for the guests to arrive (Laredo’s doesn’t take reservations for 7-9 on Friday nights) and we had people bringing infants and one mom-to-be! Needless to say, everything worked out fine — much merriment was had and much tequila was consumed (as close examination of pupils in the photo gallery reveals)…

Happy Birthday Nichole!

Proudly exercising our Second Amendment rights

KelTec PF-9
We’re continually celebrating citizen rights and responsibilities here at the Morris ranch — our current topic is the Second Amendment. And what better way to celebrate the Second than by buying guns :)

We’ve made two additions: a handgun and a shotgun. For the handgun I decided on a KelTec PF-9 9mm; it’s inexpensive, good quality, comes with a lifetime warranty, and is small enough to make an excellent carry weapon.

Remington 870 Express Synthetic 18''
For the shotgun, we went with Remington’s 870 Express Synthetic with the 18″ barrel — a home defense standard. 12-gauge, pump-action — pumping a pump-action shotgun within earshot of some hapless schmuck who’s just broken into the wrong house is a pretty good way to end the confrontation without having to pull the trigger.

FYI

If you live in Kennesaw, you are required to own a gun. Makes sense to me — in fact, I love it. In the immediate future you’ll be introduced to our two new pieces of hardware that are helping us comply with this ordinance :)

Other cities’ less-useful (but real) laws:

  • If you live in Acworth, you are required to own a rake.
  • In Marietta, it is illegal to spit out of a car or bus — but it’s OK to spit out of a truck.
  • In Atlanta, it’s against the law to tie a giraffe to a telephone pole or street lamp.
  • In Jonesboro, it’s illegal to say “Oh boy”.

Quantifying cyber-pottymouths

The News Buckit takes up InstaPunks challenge:

Well, I propose an exercise to be perfomed by those who have the software and expertise to carry it out. The exercise is this: Search six months’ worth of content, posts and comments, of the 20 most popular blogs on the right and the left. The search criteria are George Carlin’s infamous “7 Dirty Words.”

I am absolutely certain that the left will far exceed the right in the number of usages of all these words, which will go a long way toward proving that it’s the right which is still concerned with ideas while it’s the left that’s obsessed with the lowest kind of hateful invective.

Anyone care to take up the challenge?

The results are interesting, to put it …diplomatically.
