That’s right campers — kid #2 is a boy! “Big Tater” (my nickname for him, even before we knew he was a boy, and pronounced with the most redneck accent you can manage) was a perfect patient for the ultrasound tech, posing nicely so she could verify the presence of his, ah, accessories. And he posed nicely pretty much the rest of the session — which hopefully is a reliable indicator of a more laid-back
nature, as I don’t know that our sanity could survive two demanding babies :D.

The tech also went through all of the health checks that they do at this routine ultrasound, based on measurements of various things and eyeballing the formations that are visible. And, if you’ll permit me a nerd moment, this ultrasound machine was The Bomb: we could see all four chambers of his heart doing their thing. Amazing fidelity. Amazing. The only other substantial news is that they unofficially moved the due date up a week to March 10, 2008, so there’s now a very real chance that mama and baby could share a birthday.

Found this fun new toy over at myheritage.com: “Find the celebrity in you!” Only downside: you have to create a myheritage.com account to use it.

I test drove it with pictures from Nichole’s recent birthday party — the results were interesting. As icing, once you’ve gone through the process and gotten your “celebrity” lookalikes, the site will build you a slick-daddy way to embed the results in your blog/myspace/friendster page. I give it a 7/10 for coolness, with -1 for the required signup. Our results are below the fold :)

This past Tuesday March 13th, my better half turned …a year older :) To celebrate, we got a bunch of friends together the previous Friday night for Mexican food and margaritas at Laredo’s here in Kennesaw. Much worrying was done by yours truly at our difficulty in getting tables in time for the guests to arrive (Laredo’s doesn’t take reservations for 7-9 on Friday nights) and we had people bringing infants and one mom-to-be! Needless to say, everything worked out fine — much merriment was had and much tequila was consumed (as close examination of pupils in the photo gallery reveals)…
