And thus it begins: Blair announces Iraq troops cut. Britain’s move will be seized on by Dhimmicrat opportunists here in the U.S. to browbeat the Prez into something similar …and he’ll probably, eventually cave. The troops will come home, annoyed, frustrated, yet not really surprised that those of us back home couldn’t manage to signal our elected “leaders” to stand fast. But none of this is the worst of what is to come.

April 2006 message from Dan Simmons. This was brought to my attention by Neal just recently; had I found out about it any sooner, I certainly would have posted on it sooner. I don’t want to give anything away — but since I need to give you enough to at least inspire you to actually go read the whole thing, here’s an excerpt.

“You were a philosophy major or minor at that podunk little college you went to long ago,” said the Time Traveler. “Do you remember what Category Error is?”

It rang a bell. But I was too irritated at hearing my alma mater being called a “podunk little college” to be able to concentrate fully.

“I’ll tell you what it is,” said the Time Traveler. “In philosophy and formal logic, and it has its equivalents in science and business management, Category Error is the term for having stated or defined a problem so poorly that it becomes impossible to solve that problem, through dialectic or any other means.”

I waited. Finally I said firmly, “You can’t go to war with a religion. Or, I mean . . . sure, you could . . . the Crusades and all that . . . but it would be wrong.”

Keeping up the MSM-bashing: the pre-election message from the MSM on the economy was, in a nutshell, gloom-and-doom — at least as much as it was possible to convey such a fabricated message. The economy is booming, period. Unemployment is around 4.4%, re-approaching the lowest point that it’s ever been (just under 4% in 2000 — coasting off of the dotcom boom). This is all the more remarkable considering the severe economic blow that 9/11 dealt to us, and the short amount of time in which things got back on track.

Now I can’t take credit for this prediction — I’m just relaying Rush’s statements from today. He’s predicting that we’ll suddenly start to hear about the “wonderful” economy now that the Dhimmicrats are in power and can take credit for it. The impetus of the Bush tax cuts will give them a nice easy hill to coast down and maybe (probably) even get a repeal of these tax cuts through Congress. C’mon MSM, don’t let us down — if nothing else, you’re consistently biased. Tell us FINALLY how wonderful the economy actually is!

Another interesting note: as of 13:45 EST 11/8/2006, the Dow is down 37.54 (0.31%) from yesterday. Business doesn’t care about the talking heads and the spin of the MSM — the business sector knows that a Dhimmicrat majority means higher taxes.

Orson Scott Card has made a post about tomorrow’s election and his thoughts on what is at stake. It is longish, my rushed readers, but well worth your time.

There is only one issue in this election that will matter five or ten years from now, and that’s the War on Terror.

And the success of the War on Terror now teeters on the fulcrum of this election.

If control of the House passes into Democratic hands, there are enough withdraw-on-a-timetable Democrats in positions of prominence that it will not only seem to be a victory for our enemies, it will be one.

Unfortunately, the opposite is not the case — if the Republican Party remains in control of both houses of Congress there is no guarantee that the outcome of the present war will be favorable for us or anyone else.

But at least there will be a chance.

I say this as a Democrat, for whom the Republican domination of government threatens many values that I hold to be important to America’s role as a light among nations.
