Newt all the way.

Newt said he isn’t planning on running unless there is a need for real lack of republican leadership, which is completely BRILLANT because now when he does get in the race - he’ll already have set it up as to why he “forced” to enter.
Plus, he’s been vacationing in IOWA!!!!

Eh, Shannon? I think you’re saying you support Newt..? Either way, what’s he doing vacationing in Iowa? Joining the Polar Bear Club?! Woof — I am most definitely NOT a cold weather kind o’ guy.
Then again, I’ve never been snowskiing — I strongly suspect that that could change my firm anti-cold weather position. Though it would be pretty hard to unseat snorkeling off St. Thomas from it’s #1 spot on my list…

More and more………….
US Presidential elections are turning into exercises not unlike trying to choose between the last couple of kids to fill out your kickball teams.

Oh….and given the nominal choices, I’d just as soon write-in Sam Nunn. He’s still the only life-long Democrat I know with anything approaching a backbone.
He’s also (IIRC) the last Demo I ever voted for in a Congressional election.

Shannon: That’s what I created it for! Welcome!
Buzzfan: I’d vote for “Give em hell” Zell Miller in ‘08 over just about anyone else I can imagine at this point. I’d hand over a fair amount o’ foldin’ money just to see him square off with Tim Russert again …especially after Russert’s recent dosing with his own medicine on the stand in the Valerie Plame debacle :D

Zell’s ok…….I’ve certainly warmed up to him in recent years. Unfortuantely, he’d be perceived as a bit “too” grassroots (with some hayseed blended in) for significant segments of both of the “major parties”. He’s definitely no-nonsense and willing to speak his mind (another no-no in certain circles).
I think MULTIPLE GOP administrations (going back to Ronnie) missed golden opportunities in looking across the partisan gulf and nominating Nunn as SecDef. He had (and probably still has) as firm of an understanding of the capabilities, needs and limitations….both self-imposed and not…..of the US military machine as anyone in the civilian sector.
Of course, his reign in DC was….for the most part…before your time. I actually remember his first run for the Senate (and his campaign jingle, which…….*sigh*…….will now be running thru my head for the remainder of the day. :-Þ)

Greatest GA Politican Ever?
a) Newt Gingrich
b) Sam Nunn
c) Martin Luther King, Jr.
d) Eugene Talmadge
e) Zell Miller
I guess you could rank them….funny thing though - I left Jimmy Carter off this list and he is the only Georgian President. Maybe he deserves a spot for simply getting elected president the first time around, but he threw us into such a disaster in the middle east that we are still cleaning up this mess today….i don’t know….

As if Jimmuh Carter wasn’t an atrocious enough president, he just can’t/won’t go away. Whether it’s endorsing strongman-rigged elections in Venezuela or publishing a book so full of factual errors, lies, and outright tripe that half his staff resigns over it, he keeps digging the hole he’s in deeper and deeper. I’m sure he’s a great guy in person, but when it comes to anything political the poor fellow really should just wash his hands and be done with it.

Dick Morris seems to think that Newt will be making a run, too…
