GASOLINE IS GETTING CHEAPER

There — I’ve done my part. And pardon the yelling, but I had to overcome the deafening silence booming from the mainstream media on this one. It apparently falls on us bloggers to tell some of the more important and relevant stories of the day/week/month when they (oops!) maybe-might-possibly mean giving the Bush administration even just a chance at a smidge of positive press. As Cal Thomas notes,

gas prices continue to fall, and the president might wonder why, when gasoline was $3.50 a gallon, it was on the front page, but now that prices have dropped 80 cents or more in some places, one doesn’t see as much attention given to it.

Sure, this change will most likely reverse itself (dramatically) once the Iran war fires up, and I’m sure we’ll hear all about it then. Fair enough — but lets play ball: when prices come down, lets report that too, mm-kay?

How cheap is it all over the country? Check out gasbuddy.com’s gas price heat map >>

That map is extremely cool, but it makes me question why the prices are as shown on it. Why is Florida and specifically my area so much higher than Georgia? No more than 25 miles up the coast from me there are multiple big storage structures for gas and tankers come into Port Canaveral regularly. I want answers!!!

I had thought that population density would show a pretty much one-to-one correlation with higher prices, but http://maps.webfoot.com/ put the lie to that theory…
