Weird Al Yankovic strikes gold ..again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xEzGIuY7kw

Brilliant. BRILLIANT. All the funnier because …well, I’m white and nerdy.

(And in case you’re wondering, according to — where else? — Wikipedia, the song he’s parodying is “Ridin’” by Chamillionaire and Krayzie Bone)

Google releases new version of Picasa

Thursday, September 21st, 2006

Yeah, I’m a bit late to this one, but I’ve been slammed lately — just now wading through my backlog of RSS reading material and I stumbled across this Google Blog entry.

Picasa is Google’s picture management package, and it’s niiice. If you’ve looked at it before but didn’t find it compelling enough to really dive into, you might want to look again. A lot of new capability has been rolled into this latest version, including the ability to publish pictures online. The full release notes are here.

I’ve got a handy-dandy little link on the right sidebar if your interest has been piqued ;)

Who woulda thunk it

I actually agree with Venezuelan “President” Hugo Chavez — well, at least one of his statements. While speaking yesterday to the United Nations, the ever-diplomatic Mr. Chavez

…also said the U.N. “doesn’t work” in its current system…

Of course, just examining that quote misses the meat of what ol’ Hugo ranted on about, and most of it was varying degrees down the slope into near-insanity. Highlight: calling President Bush “the devil”. Subtle he ain’t — sort of refreshing, even if it is coming from a coldly calculating dictator-wanna-be.

GASOLINE IS GETTING CHEAPER

Sunday, September 17th, 2006

There — I’ve done my part. And pardon the yelling, but I had to overcome the deafening silence booming from the mainstream media on this one. It apparently falls on us bloggers to tell some of the more important and relevant stories of the day/week/month when they (oops!) maybe-might-possibly mean giving the Bush administration even just a chance at a smidge of positive press. As Cal Thomas notes,

gas prices continue to fall, and the president might wonder why, when gasoline was $3.50 a gallon, it was on the front page, but now that prices have dropped 80 cents or more in some places, one doesn’t see as much attention given to it.

Sure, this change will most likely reverse itself (dramatically) once the Iran war fires up, and I’m sure we’ll hear all about it then. Fair enough — but lets play ball: when prices come down, lets report that too, mm-kay?

How cheap is it all over the country? Check out gasbuddy.com’s gas price heat map >>

Alright already! A few more pictures..
