It’s whats for dinner

I know it’s been some time since a post ..so to make up for the long absence, I bring you this (hat tip to Neal): “Food Defect Action Levels: Levels of natural or unavoidable defects in foods that present no health hazards for humans”

If you’ve ever wondered how many rodent hairs the FDA deems “acceptable” in your macaroni, this site has your answers.

Enjoy! :D

    OMG…I’m not hungry anymore. Thanks:(

    Good stuff man.

Whenever I am eating chocolate in the future I will keep in mind it could have 60 or more insect fragments and 1 or more rodent hairs per 100 grams.

Yeah, kinda gross — but look how many of them are only “aesthetic” defects and pose no real hazard. When you consider that we supposedly eat eight spiders a year in our sleep, it’s not that bad. I’m kinda curious if all the “insect parts” in the food we eat would add up to eight little buggies.

Of course, it can also be noted that I said I’d take a shot of my own urine for $20, so maybe my opinion on gross things we eat doesn’t count as much. (For the record, I’ve never done it…)

For the record, I would not take a shot of my own urine for any money. However, those insect bits and rodent hairs sound delicious!

btw… the council here in Tennessee, which is made up of me, me, & me, demand a wedding blog. I think you started something good with the engagement post, so why not keep it going through the summer? A working title for this project could be “Dancing Hearts & Ferret Noises - Wedding 2005″. My apologies for posting my two cents under a topic involving health hazards… but it had to be done!
