Iraq & the “Insurgents”
filed in Commentary, News on Dec.14, 2004
NRO has started a five-part series of excerpts from Steven Vincent’s book The Red Zone. Today’s excerpt offers a glimpse at some of the underlying reasons why there is still a going-strong insurgent movement in Iraq, even when the word-on-the-street opinion is near-unanimous joy at the deposal of Saddam. An interesting point of view IMO, precisely because it’s not a point of view I had much considered — or, more accurately, it’s a point of view that I hadn’t thought was much of a contributing factor. Highly recommended.
And it’s short, for all you lazy readers :)
