Run the Numbers

Tuesday, September 28th, 2004

Yes, this is a political post. But it’s a good one, and short (in content that is — it’s rather long in terms of screen real estate).

You’ve heard Kerry’s droning on and on about how he would emphasize “rebuilding our international relationships” etc. etc. — and why? All because President Bush supposedly “went it alone” in Iraq and “alienated” our “friends and allies”. But is that an accurate assessment of the situation based on the numbers of troops currently committed to Operation Iraqi Freedom?

Site of the Day

Saturday, September 25th, 2004

Well…. if I actually posted everyday, and if I also posted a “Site of the Day” everyday, this would be today’s.

Red state, blue state

Saturday, September 25th, 2004

…one state, two state. Or something. Not being able to sleep cause you’re coughing like a coal miner sucketh. Beeg time. On the other hand, being wacked out of your head on a stew of cold medication is …different, to say the least. So you can chalk that little Suess-y tagline up to my meds.

While playing the part of The Restless Insomniac, I came across this rockin’ site that is (according to John Derbyshire of NRO) the best, most up-to-date representation of the red state/blue state breakdown for the upcoming presidential election.

NOTE: a word of warning to you uber-nerds out there: the map on that page is comprised of a bajillion DIVs, and Firefox was none to pleased to have to deal with it (read: it was slow as cold poo). If you can bear to fire up IE instead (just this once!) I think you’ll have a better browsing experience. I know I did.

Mr. Lewis’ V-Drum Demo

Friday, September 24th, 2004

Rather than retelling this, I’ll just copy-and-paste the meat of the relevant IM session (between me and Mike N.):

[09/24 - 23:06:55] Mike N.: i had a bizarre day….. i did a Roland V-Drum demo for Emmanuel Lewis today [09/24 - 23:07:09] me: Emmanuel Lewis? [09/24 - 23:07:12] Mike N.: Webster [09/24 - 23:07:16] me: GTFO [09/24 - 23:09:05] Mike N.: fo shizzle….. total weird factor….. nice guy, but when you’re playing the drums, and TV’s Webster grabs your shoulder after you play, and says “that’s love, yo”…… it gets a little unsettling in some ways…. [09/24 - 23:09:16] me: ROFL [09/24 - 23:09:19] me: That RULES [09/24 - 23:10:01] Mike N.: i was playing “When the Levee Breaks” on the “Zeppy” setting on the V-Drums, and he was totally rapping to it…..
