Heard the Prez on Rush…

Tuesday, August 31st, 2004

…and he comes across as Joe Everyman trying to do the best he can with what he’s been given. Yeah, he’s not a great speaker — but I probably would stumble over my words a bit if I were speaking live on one of the most popular radio shows in the country, answering questions like, “What do you have planned for your second term?”

Good buddy Preble’s blog, 1128, ran a post a while back about a campaign flyer discovered in his mailbox — replete with a picture of the candidate, who bore a striking resemblance to one of Preble’s siblings.

So what, you ask? A Google search for “Mike Siegel” (the candidate in question) now returns humble ol’ 1128 as the number one hit for that search.

Love that Internet.

“The Deadly Dangers of Moralism”

Friday, August 27th, 2004

Received this from a co-worker — it’s a transcription of a John MacArthur sermon about the dangers of fighting for a cultural morality. The points made in this sermon are the very reasons that I was giving up being so “politically active” and engaging the news: I was going down the very path that MacArthur is warning against. Extraordinary how the Lord works — as I’m still struggling with changing my habits, He sends me a white-and-black affirmation that I have indeed done the right thing, and provides a solid perspective and understanding as to why it’s the right thing.

The link to an online version is here: http://www.biblebb.com/files/MAC/80-257.htm I have also decided to include it here in my weblog in case that site isn’t always up or available.

It’s pretty long (compared to most of the fare you’ll find here on my site or even in the things that I occasionally link to). But I challenge you to read it.

Retired Rear Adm. William L. Schachte Jr.

Trust me.

…and I’ve broken my no-news commitment to recommend a Neal Boortz article outlining the Fair Tax plan, which President Bush said just a few weeks ago should get a fair examination — read Neal’s column at http://www.townhall.com/columnists/nealboortz/nb20040827.shtml.
